THE TROJANS : The spirit of adventure

In 1988 The Trojans released their second album, The Spirit of Adventure. The album was also released in Japan on Sony Records.

The band released Lumpi as a single from the album, & produced a video with shots recorded at Gaz Mayall's home & while they were on stage in London. This upbeat record is still played at ska discos to this day, and the video was shown on a number of TV channels in the UK and in Japan.

The BBC must of also purchased a copy of The Spirit of Adventure, as The Trojans were asked to record a BBC session with two of the album tracks, Acid Rain & Jericho Battle, getting the fully deserved Beeb treatment. The BBC versions were released as a limited edtion 12" single titled Phoenix, which was released with two other tracks on Gaz's Rockin Records, and it quickly became a collector's item.

The Spirit of Adventure was a huge success for The Trojans both at home & abroad, & the band appeared on TV adverts in Japan due its success, and Gaz Mayall became a big star. So much that posters of him & The Trojans could be seen all over Tokyo that particular year !
