Directed by: GAELLE DENIS
Written by: GAELLE DENIS, SIBEL ARMUTCU
Music soundtrack: THE PRINCETONES
Country: United Kingdom , 19 min
Language: English

Set in a typical east London high street during an atypical hot, dry, English summer “After the rain” is a love story, between neighbours Lian and Adrian, who suffer from surreal compulsive obsessive disorders. Lian, a Chinese waitress, evaporates when she cries, only coming back with the rain; while Adrian, the laundry man, coughs feathers in times of anxiety. As their worlds and disorders collide, we watch Lian and Adrian’s initial suspicion and distaste of one another give way to understanding, friendship and love. Tonally, After the Rain is a surreal comedy, addressing themes of love, ecology, racism and ignorance. More...

Railroad Bill Skiffle group
(Still Rollin') - September 2008

Railroad Bill play raw, fast, gutsy skiffle music on the simplest of instruments - washboard, tea chest bass, guitar and mandolin. With an act that has been honed on the streets and on the stages of the UK and abroad, they have been described as 'Lonnie Donegan on Speed' - and we're not talking dustmen here - the material is rooted in American Blues - songs of Gambling, Trains, Drinking and Prison - A sort of Sea Sick Steve meets the Ramones...

Skiffle - the music that inspired a generation to pick up the guitar... Now widely regarded as the punk music of its day, Skiffle has too long been tarred with the brush of a few novelty hits, when its real power was bringing black american blues music to a generation of teenagers a full 2 years ahead of the rock and roll revolution. Thanks to skiffle, once rock and roll hit the UK, British teenagers were ready with the guitars, the licks and the attitude to take over the world. More...

the skamonics - Goodbye pork pie hat

the skamonics
(Good bye pork pie hat) - March 2008

The Skamonics are an eight-piece London based jazz meets ska band, playing a unique mix of ska, jazz, two-tone and completely unexpected covers. Imagine Herbie Hancock jamming with The Specials, or if Kraftwerk were from Kingston, Jamaica...

A driving rhythm section provides a firm foundation for four blazing horns, blasting out a wide repertoire of ska favourites and tunes given a ska treatment for the very first time.

Made up of musicians with roots in jazz and ska, the Skamonics sound has wide appeal. Silly hats, killer horns and an ever dancing beat. More...
