15-06-2006 - I have a new band: The Trojans
I have been invited to join permanently the Trojans as lead guitarist (10 piece london based band playing ska to celtic music to blues to russian traditional to reggae and latin) by its singer Gaz Mayall. Gaz is the son of 1960s British blues boom legend John Mayall, and manage to become a legend himself as a reknown DJ, musican, producer as early as 1978. The trojans play Japan and Europe on a regular basis. I'll write more about the circumstances that lead into this once I have a little more time, it is a crazy story, and it happened to me.... but basically he heard me play a gipsy solo on Caravan ( Duke Ellington) and decided on the spot to get me in his band without telling anybody. (about Gaz mayall)

01-06-2006 - New skamonics gigs in London Soho.
on 1st June we'll be at Gaz's Rockin Blues Bar (http://www.gazrockin.com). Gaz is sort of the Ska George Melly, he's been around Soho DJing, playing and promoting ska, reggae and RnB for
ages, and has his own float at the notting hill carnival. There are also a bunch of ska compiliations in his name at HMV and your local rare groove record shop. Like the 100 Club, his club is a bit of a legend- ska cubano played there before they got big. During our last gig @ the 100 Club you might have noticed the guy dressed as a 40s pimp, with a hat made of dollar bills and a foot long key chain made of dice in the audience (or not). That's him. Nick our trombone player very smoothly got chatting with him, and he's agreed to book us at his club.

30-05-2006 - Finally?
Welcome to the new johnjohnrecords website. The site was officially relaunched 30 may 2006 after having been originally created in 1999 and left dormant since 2003. This is all there is to say, the rest is to be browsed...
