Trio Manouche:
Trio Manouche are a world-class gypsy jazz ensemble
formed by Simon Harris in 2005. The ensemble perform a mixture
of traditional classics and up-beat quirky original compositions.
These originals bring a unique and contemporary take on the
genre and the repertoire. Simon has played with some of the
living legends of the gypsy jazz style including Tchavalo
Schmitt and Stochelo Rosenburg. He has also worked with more
contemporary artists such as Mobo Award Winner Soweto Kinch
and he recently even ended up on a Cat Stevens video! The
line-up includes the inimitable Frank Moon on Acoustic Guitar
and the very talented Colin 'the changes' Somervell on Double
Bass.
Trio Manouche can be seen on a regular basis at the following
venues:
Henry Wood Hall, Ikon Gallery, 606 Club, Symphony Hall, The
National Theatre, Le Quecumbar, Timothy Lines (CBSO), Shambala
Festival, Iford Arts, RCA.
The ensemble is typically a trio, however they often augment
the group with one or two more celebrated musicians (typically
trumpet and vocals).
